Two Laser Wavelengths –
All Major Applications
Fotona was the first manufacturer to introduce two complementary laser wavelengths (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) in a single system (Skinlight, 1994). Combining both wavelengths in a single treatment makes best use of the unique laser-tissue interaction characteristics of each laser wavelength, and can dramatically improve the outcome of laser-assisted treatments to achieve superior clinical results.
Nd:YAG Lasers –
For Treatment of Deep-Lying Structures
Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser light penetrates deeper into the skin to selectively target even the deepest skin structures such as deep-lying veins and hair follicles. The thermal energy of the laser heats them to a point where the desired effect is achieved. With Fotona’s Q-switched technology, instead of heat, laser light is transformed into photo-acoustic waves which mechanically break apart unwanted particles, such as pigments, so that the body’s own immune system can remove them.

Fotona4D®
A unique combination of four distinct modes of aesthetic treatment harnessed in concert to combat facial ageing.
• SmoothLiftin™ • FRAC3® • PIANO® • SupErficial™
Fotona4D® is a series of synergistic, non-invasive laser treatments of both the exterior facial and interior oral cavity, enabling full-thickness contraction of collagen for persistent tightening and volumization without injectables. With two laser wavelengths (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) and 4 treatment modes, anti-aging is comprehensively approached from 4 different levels, working on deeper, medial and superficial connective structures of the skin, as well as targeting imperfections.
The four “dimensions” of Fotona4D® refer to four distinct treatments with Fotona’s SP Dynamis or SP Spectro systems: SmoothLiftin™, FRAC3®, PIANO® and SupErficial™, all harnessed in concert to combat facial aging, with little or no downtime or anesthesia, and that can be performed all year-round.
SmoothLiftin™
A revolutionary non-ablative Er:YAG intraoral treatment for controlled and gentle “bulk-heating” to stimulate collagen contraction. In addition to an immediate effect resulting in the shrinkage of collagen fibers, the initiation of new collagen generation occurs. The effects result in an overall improvement of tightness and elasticity in the treated tissue as well as a plumping effect to the nasolabial folds from the inside, much like a filler.
FRAC3®
A self-induced, fractional effect of the Nd:YAG laser and a specific pulse structure that generates tiny regional spikes of high temperature. This nonablative modality enables the treatment of specific, deeper imperfections to complement the effect of the intraoral treatment, as well as restore youthful texture.
PIANO®
A unique, ultra-long Nd:YAG pulse mode for the third stage of Fotona4D®. The laser causes bulk tissue heating safely and rapidly, from the outside in, by concentrating energy delivery subcutaneously. The PIANO® pulse is in the superextended seconds regime mode, with a brushing technique for completing the full-thickness bulk heating with an overall synergistic tightening effect.
SupErficial™
A light cold Er:YAG ablation that gives a pearl finish to the skin. SupErficial™ additionally improves the appearance of the skin and reduces imperfections by using propriety VSP technology, enabling the operator to easily adjust the laser to an extremely controlled light peel, without thermal effects, for a no-down time, precise treatment.

TwinLight Laser Acne & Acne Scars Treatment
A fast and simple solution for clear skin
• Safe and effective • No medication • Controlled, accurate and precise
• Improves skin texture and tone • Suitable for larger and smaller areas • Fast and gentle
What is TwinLight Laser Acne & Acne Scars Tx?
Laser treatment of Active Acne reduces acne inflammation by photo-selective absorption and heating of overactive sebaceous glands. The power of an Nd:YAG laser is used to accelerate the healing process and to reduce the possibility of developing new acne inflammation.
Laser treatment of Acne Scars is based on the precise and gentle skin resurfacing procedure where the Er:YAG laser is absorbed by the top micro-layers of the skin to vaporise scarred skin and stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis.
Best clinical results are obtained by employing two complementary wavelengths of near infrared lasers (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG – TwinLight Tx).
How does it work?
1. Active acne: A high power Nd:YAG laser is used to penetrate the skin deep enough to thermally and selectively destroy large sebaceous glands.
2. Acne scars: The Er:YAG laser is used to remove micron-thin layers of skin so that new skin can form in its place. Unlike chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser resurfacing allows to be easily controlled. The laser gently vaporises the acne-scarred surface of the skin so that undamaged skin below is revealed.
Why is wavelength important?
Fotona’s precisely controlled Nd:YAG laser wavelength safely penetrates into skin with the optimal depth to effectively target overactive sebaceous glands. In addition to its thermal penetration effects, the Nd:YAG acne laser treatment also stimulates collagen remodelling, an important step in the treatment of acne. For problematic acne scars, Fotona’s Er:YAG laser wavelength is ideal for gentle ablative scar revision. The Er:YAG laser safely and effectively provides the
minimal penetration required for light resurfacing of acne-scarred skin.
Why are Fotona lasers perfect for TwinLight Acne & Acne Scars Tx?
Both the SP Dynamis and the SP Spectro laser systems are equipped with a high performance Er:YAG laser that ablates skin more efficiently with proprietary VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology, which can be accurately tuned to varying “cold” ablation and non-ablative thermal ratios. Full customisability allows you to precisely attain the clinical outcomes your patients desire.
The Nd:YAG laser on the SP Dynamis & SP Spectro perfectly complements the Er:YAG laser’s ablative action with the ability to penetrate deeply into the skin to create thermal effects without damaging the skin surface. Furthermore, Fotona’s specially designed, innovative hand-piece technology allows safe, precisely controlled and effective delivery of laser pulses to the treatment area.

• Non-invasive • Increases the quality of a patient’s sleep • Extremely easy for any doctor or dentist to perform
• Lessen the effects of snoring and sleep apnea • Safe and patient-friendly treatment
What is NightLase® Snoring and Apnea Treatment?
NightLase® Treatment is a patented, fast, non-invasive and friendly way of increasing the quality of a patient’s sleep. NightLase® lessens the effects of sleep apnea and decreases the amplitude of snoring through the use of gentle, superficial Er:YAG laser light. No anaesthesia is used in this treatment.
How does NightLase® Treatment work?
During NightLase® treatment laser light heats the tissue, causing tightening of the tissue which leads to an attenuation of the sound of the patients snoring and a lessening of the effects of sleep apnea.
The procedure is performed in two simple steps:
Step 1: PRECONDITIONING – The laser light preheats the tissue.
Step 2: TISSUE STRENGTHENING – Laser light strengthens the tissue.
A full course of NightLase® treatment is comprised of three separate treatment sessions over a six week period. The final result of the treatment has been shown to last up to a year. When the patients or their loved ones notice the effects eroding, another round of treatment can be performed.
Why are Fotona laser systems perfect for NightLase® Treatment?
Fotona systems, like the LightWalker and Dynamis, enable a strong yet gentle Er:YAG modality which optimises the length of every pulse. This mode allows for the superficial penetration of heat into tissue, without damage or adverse effects. It is gentle enough to be used on the sensitive tissue inside the mouth, but strong enough to provide clinically efficacious heating.
NightLase® Treatment parameters can be preprogrammed into the Dynamis or LightWalker, making treatments easy to perform.

Onychomycosis
ClearSteps Laser Onychomycosis Treatment
• Complete fungal elimination • Non-invasive • No chemicals or oral medication
• Stimulates the natural growth and immune processes of the body
• Extremely fast, effective and easy to perform • Safe and patient-friendly treatment
What is ClearSteps Onychomycosis Treatment?
ClearSteps is a revolutionary method for treating onychomycosis in a patient friendly, quick and effective way with Nd:YAG laser light. Laser light heats evenly throughout the depth of effected nail and skin tissue, effectively weakening and killing parasitic fungi which have infected the patient’s nail.
How does ClearSteps work?
Deep, pulse-profile heating of the nail bed stimulates the killing of parasitic fungus. The natural growth and immune processes of the body are then able to restore the nail to its pristine state. Compared to traditional methods the effects of laser light spread evenly throughout the tissue and are not subject to either the limits of chemical diffusion, as are topicals, or the induction of hepatoxic side effects, as is the case with oral medications.
The procedure can be performed in three simple steps:
Step 1: File down the Nail. During onychomycosis the nail will become deformed and overgrown, it may also thicken. Filing down the nail allows laser light to fully penetrate into the treatment site.
Step 2: Administer Nd:YAG laser pulses in a circular pattern covering the entire nail. Slightly overlap the beam so that the nail is fully covered. The patient should feel a slight heating sensation throughout the nail.
Step 3: Target Nd:YAG laser pulses around the perimeter of the nail bed and around the finger or toe. Often parasitic fungus has worked its way beyond the nail bed and needs to be eliminated in all the tissue surrounding the nail to prevent recurrence.
The treatment is usually performed four times at one week intervals. All of the nails should be treated, during every treatment, just in case. Laser light can also effectively treat fungus which has infected skin tissue.
Why is the Dynamis Line perfect for ClearSteps?
The pulse profile, speed and power of lasers in the Dynamis Line allow a patient’s nails to be treated quickly and effectively. Unparalleled speed makes the procedure convenient and comfortable for the patient. In 15 minutes your patients can be on the way to
enjoying healthy, aesthetically pleasing nails without the dangerous side-effects associated with anti-fungal drugs.
Exclusive advantages of ClearSteps for you and your patients
ClearSteps Onychomycosis Treatment is the most effective and least invasive treatment of fungal nail infection. The treatment is extremely fast and easy to perform and has an unsurpassed treatment success rate compared to traditional methods.
An important advantage of the ClearSteps treatment method is that no oral medications or chemicals are used. Therefore, there are no dangerous side effects as there are with conventional treatments. ClearSteps is the most patient-friendly and non-invasive treatment of onychomycosis.

Permanent Hair Reduction
FRAC3® Hair Removal
• permanent hair reduction • gentle, fast and convenient • long-lasting results
• suitable for all skin types • no ingrown hair, irritated or infected skin • suitable for larger and smaller areas
What is FRAC3® hair removal?
The 1064 nm Nd:YAG FRAC3® method is optimised to deliver high intensity laser pulses in extremely short times of less than 2 ms, sufficiently short to destroy most hair types while avoiding unnecessary damage to the epidermis. Due to the relatively low absorption in melanin, Nd:YAG laser treatments can be used safely and effectively even with darker skin types.
How does FRAC3® hair removal work?
Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser energy is absorbed selectively by the hair bulb and hair matrix, thus destroying the hair follicle. The FRAC3® pulse produces a three-dimensional fractional pattern within the epidermis and dermis, with energy being absorbed predominantly at the sites of small skin imperfections before heat is transferred to the surrounding non-target structures.
Laser parameters can be adjusted quickly and easily according to your patient’s skin type, hair thickness, hair colour as well as depth of hair follicles. Nd:YAG FRAC3® pulses should be administered with a slight overlap covering the entire treatment surface. Apply cooling to maximise comfort during the treatment.
Special post-treatment care is not required. Follicles treated in the anagen phase should fall out in approximately 2-3 weeks. Observe if new growth is present and repeat the treatment if needed. The treatment schedule will depend on each individual’s hair growth cycle.
Avalanche FRAC3® procedure for maximum comfort and safety
One of the challenges when performing laser hair removal is the relatively low absorption of laser light in the treated hair, especially when the hair is blond and/or the skin is dark. Using the Avalanche FRAC3® procedure, low energy FRAC3® laser pulses are delivered to the same skin area several times during the same session, causing a gradual increase in absorption of the laser energy in the hair. This leads to effective hair removal even at lower laser parameters than those required when single-pass hair removal is performed, making the treatment much more comfortable, often eliminating the need for cooling.
Exclusive advantage of FRAC3® hair removal for you and your patients
Compared to the standard laser hair removal treatment concept, which requires medium-to-long laser pulse durations (LP, 15 – 50 ms), Fotona’s short FRAC3® pulse, ideally 0.3 – 1.6 ms long exhibits the lowest hair damage thresholds, making this treatment more comfortable to the patient.

Laser Removal of Pigmented Lesions
A fast, simple and minimally invasive Tx
• Safe and effective procedure • Minimal recovery times • Suitable for all skin types
• No scalpel, no sutures • Controlled, accurate and precise • Exceptionally well-tolerated by patients
What is Laser Removal of Pigmented Lesions?
Lasers are a simple, fast, effective and safe tool for removing a wide variety of benign pigmented lesions, such as freckles, age spots, birthmarks, moles, certain vascular lesions, ephelides, melasma, seborrheic and actinic keratoses.
How does it work?
Laser removal of pigmented lesions works by destroying the pigment in the skin without the need for excision. This process in completed in 3 simple steps:
Step 1 – LIGHT ABSORPTION: The laser produces short nanosecond pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the melanin pigment in the lesion.
Step 2 – PIGMENT BREAK-UP: The laser light is transformed into photo-acoustic waves which mechanically break up the melanin pigment into smaller particles.
Step 3 – PIGMENT REMOVAL: These particles are then removed by the body’s own immune system, as the skin’s macro-phages clear the excess pigment from the area.
Why is wavelength important?
The laser wavelength is what determines which chromophore will be predominantly targeted by the laser to be selectively removed. Clinical studies show that superficial lesions can be treated most effectively with the KTP 532 nm wavelength, while the Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength can be used to target deeper-lying chromophores. Additionally, Q-switched light, available with Fotona’s QX MAX laser system, is especially effective due to its high peak powers and selective nature, enabling it to break apart pigments only and not cells. This means that pigment destruction can take place without ablating the skin.
Why is the QX MAX perfect for Laser Removal of Pigmented Lesions?
It is widely recognised in the medical community that Q-Switched lasers are the ideal tool for effectively removing benign pigmented lesions. Combining 4 laser modalities in an advanced, high-powered solution, Fotona’s QX MAX laser system effectively removes all common pigmented lesions.
Fotona’s innovative R-HX hand-piece produces a completely flat laser beam profile that is hexagonal in shape to allow for more precise and uniform coverage. Homogeneity of the laser beam profile is important in pigment removal treatments and skin whitening. It ensures safety during treatment since laser energy is evenly distributed across the treated area.
The system’s OPTOflex articulated arm increases precision and safety. OPTOflex generates absolute uniform beam profiles. Its ergonomic design allows easy and natural hand movement during procedures.
Advantages for You and Your patients
Laser treatment of pigmented lesions is quick, suture-less, has a rapid healing time and produces excellent results. It is suitable for all ethnic skin types. For
example, Asian skin is highly sensitive to heat and often hyper-pigmentation can result from using the wrong laser sources or as a result of poor administration of the laser treatment. The Nd:YAG or KTP Nd:YAG laser sources, on the other hand, have been generating desirable treatment results to all ethnic skin types.

Scar Revision
The minimally invasive nature of laser scar-revision treatments means that they are well tolerated by patients, and faster recovery times allow the psychological impact of scar revision treatments to be realised much sooner by patients.
Harnessing the Medical Power of Light
Lasers are ideally suited for the effective treatment of a wide range of scar tissues. Er:YAG skin resurfacing is used for gentle ablation of scar tissue and activation of collagen remodelling. Acne scars in particular respond well to Er:YAG treatments. For hypertrophic scars, clinical research conducted with the Nd:YAG wavelength show further improvement in the aesthetic appearance and overall tissue quality of a scar, including erythema, volume, pliability, etc.
A Synergistic Treatment Solution
With Fotona’s pioneering dual-wavelength scar-revision therapy, both non-ablative Nd:YAG and fractional-ablative Er:YAG wavelengths are combined as part of a single comprehensive scar-treatment regimen, with immediate visible results that surpass that of traditional laser-based and conventional scar treatment techniques. Dual-wavelength scar treatment therapies provide a highly effective solution that not only addresses a scar’s aesthetic appearance but also helps to resolve complicating factors with the scar’s vascular feeding system.

Skin Resurfacing
TwinLightTM Fractional Rejuvenation
• Deep and lasting rejuvenation of the skin • Stimulates the body’s natural rejuvenation process
• From light touch-ups to deep, age-erasing optical peels • Minimal downtime • Natural results
• Scanner technology for resurfacing larger areas • Fast and effective treatment • Safe and patient-friendly procedure
What is TwinLightTM Fractional Rejuvenation?
TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation is a simple 3-step procedure optimised to significantly improve skin smoothness and give it a fresher, healthier look. It is a gentler alternative for treating fine lines and wrinkles with minimal downtime and clean natural results. Using fractional light to rejuvenate the skin can produce an effect that is perfectly graded to your patient’s expectations, and offers a degree of control and efficacy that allows for highly precise sculpting of the skin. Treatments can extend from light touch-ups to deep collagen remodelling, ideal for patients who want drastic rejuvenation effects, but are not inclined towards aggressive surgical or chemical alternatives.
How does TwinLightTM Fractional Rejuvenation work?
Past skin rejuvenation procedures treated large areas of the skin, whether it was aged or not. But with TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation, the laser light precisely targets only areas of the skin where skin ageing has occurred, leaving the surrounding healthy skin untouched. The heat from the laser energy also stimulates the production of new collagen in the dermis because the surrounding, untreated skin speeds the rejuvenation process. This treatment is suitable for all skin types and tones, with minimal patient downtime.
TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation is performed in three simple steps:
Step 1 – CONDITIONING: An Nd:YAG beam is passed along the surface twice. The first pass provides a short stimulus to the skin, the second pass penetrates the tissue, causing deep FRAC3® heating and conditioning the skin for effective fractional treatment therapy.
Step 2 – FRACTIONAL THERAPY: Old, worn-out skin is ablated away by a fractional Er:YAG laser. The precise micro-ablated channels will be replaced with new, tighter and healthy tissue as the new skin forms.
Step 3 – PEELING: The skin is ablated with a light full Er:YAG beam, which finishes the treatment and removes superficial imperfections.
Er:YAG and Nd:YAG wavelengths have complementary effects on the skin. The deep heating of the Nd:YAG beam helps rejuvenate and stimulate the skin, while the Er:YAG beam helps the body form new, tighter skin. In addition, the ability of Er:YAG lasers to resurface the skin with a variable amount of coagulation has long been recognised as enabling a versatility of treatment styles
which are impossible to achieve with any other skin rejuvenation technology.
Why is the SP Dynamis perfect for TwinLightTM Rejuvenation?
The SP Dynamis laser system combines two highly optimised lasers in one machine, a long-pulse Nd:YAG and a Variable Square Pulse Er:YAG. The full range of treatments can be performed: from light touch-ups to deep, age-erasing optical peels. The SP Dynamis gives you the power and flexibility that allows you to approach each clinical situation with confidence. Fotona’s specially designed, innovative hand-piece technology allows safe, precise, controlled and effective delivery of laser pulses to the treatment area. The hand-pieces have adjustable spot-sizes and are made from advanced titanium technology, maximising their durability and minimising their weight.
Advantages of TwinLightTM Fractional Rejuvenation for you and your patients
TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation is easy for any practitioner to perform. The unique characteristics of two complementary laser wavelengths mean that you can have much more accurate and precise control over the treatment, especially how deep the laser penetrates the skin. This enables customised treatments for each patient based on their needs and desires. Treating wide areas is simple: the SP Dynamis supports scanners for all of its modalities and provides enough power to quickly resurface large areas. This minimally invasive treatment is suitable for all skin types and tones. An additional benefit for patients is that the recovery period is faster than with traditional treatments.

Laser Tattoo Removal
Effective and safe solution for multi-coloured tattoos
• Minimally invasive treatment • Precise and gentle • Removes all common tattoo colours
• For amateur and professional tattoos • No anaesthesia required
What is Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal has become the standard treatment for tattoo removal because it offers an effective, safe and fast solution for removing unwanted tattoos. With the right laser, all common tattoo colours can be removed; black and dark tones, blues and sky blues, reds and tans, and greens.
How does it work?
The laser affects the tattoo with very short and strong laser pulses that penetrate deep into the skin, without injuring the top layers. These pulses are then absorbed by the pigments in the ink and as the laser light is transformed into photo-acoustic waves, it mechanically breaks up the ink into smaller particles. These are then naturally absorbed by the body’s own immune system.
The number of treatments depends on the size of the tattoo as well as its location, depth and colour. Amateur tattoos are the easiest to remove whereas professional ones may require more treatment sessions. The tattoo will fade slowly between treatments as the body removes the remainders of the tattoo pigment.
Why is wavelength important?
Fotona’s precisely controlled Nd:YAG laser 1064 nm wavelength is the ideal tool tattoos removal. The Nd:YAG is the optimal modality for conversion into 532 nm, 585 nm and 650 nm wavelengths, allowing effective removal of all types of multi-coloured and complex tattoos. Also, because of its selective nature, the Nd:YAG is hardly absorbed in melanin. Therefore, this wavelength can be safely used on all skin types.
Why is the QX MAX perfect for Laser Tattoo Removal?
Fotona’s Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, the QX MAX, combines 4 wavelengths in an advanced, high-powered solution: – 1064 nm Nd:YAG for dark pigments, – 532 nm KTP for red, tan, purple and orange inks, – 650 nm for green inks, – 585 nm for sky blue inks. It thus provides the ideal combination for treating colour tattoos. The system’s OPTOflex articulated arm increases precision and safety. OPTOflex generates absolute uniform beam profiles. Its ergonomic design allows easy and natural hand movement during procedures.
Advantages for You and Your patients
Laser tattoo removal is easy to perform and has an unsurpassed treatment success rate compared to alternative methods. With easy-to-follow protocols and at-the-touch-of-a-button treatment settings, practitioners are able to treat patients with confidence and high success rates.

For a large majority of patients included in the study, a single session was sufficient to alleviate mild or even moderate stress urinary incontinence. If needed, the treatment was repeated after one month. No special pre-op preparations or post-op precautions were necessary. Patients could immediately return to their normal everyday activities. Additional advantages of IncontiLase® are that the procedure is incision-less and virtually painless, with no ablation, cutting, bleeding, or sutures. Recovery is extremely quick without need for the use of analgesics or antibiotics.
Promising clinical results
The latest IncontiLase® scientific results, presented by LA&HA specialists Dr. Riviera and Dr. Fistonić, show excellent improvement for mild and moderate stress urinary incontinence. Assessments of efficacy were based on subjective patients’ evaluations through standardised questionnaires as well as objective Q-tip and PFM measurements. 90% of patients with mild SUI and 76% of patients with moderate SUI needed just a single IncontiLase® treatment. In total, 95% of all patients were incontinence free 12 months after the treatment, while 5% still had mild stress incontinence. Q-tip measurements during the Valsalva manoeuvre resulted in an average 20° decrease in Q-tip angle, objectively showing improvements in the urethra and bladder neck status.

IntimaLase®
Laser vaginal tightening
• solution for vaginal relaxation syndrome • photo-thermal tightening of the vaginal canal
• minimally invasive, incision-less • no anaesthesia needed • walk-in/walk-out procedure
• safe, quick and easy • high success rate and patient satisfaction
What is IntimaLase®?
IntimaLase® is a patent-pending, innovative and unique non-invasive Er:YAG laser therapy. It is based on incision-less, non-ablative photothermal tightening of the vaginal canal. Preliminary clinical studies show that it is an efficient, easy-to-use, quick and safe procedure. The indication for IntimaLase® is vaginal relaxation syndrome, which is the loss of the optimum structural form of the vagina. This process is generally associated with overstretching of the vaginal canal during childbirth as well as with natural ageing.
How does IntimaLase® work?
The IntimaLase® treatment is based on laser-induced thermal effects in the vaginal tissue, stimulating collagen remodelling and the synthesis of new collagen fibres. The final result of collagen neogenesis and remodelling is tightening of the vaginal canal. The laser used in IntimaLase® clinical trials is a 2940 nm Er:YAG with built-in proprietary technology solutions that enable delivery of specially composed laser energy packages to the vaginal mucosa tissue and to collagen-rich endopelvic fascia.
Unique advantages of IntimaLase® for your patients
For most patients included in the study, a single session was sufficient for significant tightening of the vaginal canal. If needed, the treatment was repeated after one month. No special pre-op preparation or post-op precautions were necessary. Patients could immediately return to their normal everyday activities. After one single treatment clinical results show a tightened vaginal canal, greater sexual satisfaction and significant improvement in a patient’s quality of life.
Promising clinical results
The latest scientific results presented by LAHA specialists Dr. Riviera and Dr. Fistonić clearly show noticeable improvements in vaginal tightness and sexual gratification. Assessments of the efficacy of IntimaLase® treatments are based on subjective patients’ evaluations through standardised questionnaires as well as objective measurements of vaginal canal tissue shrinkage. Vaginal tightening was achieved in all patients, ranging from 3% to 28%, resulting in an average shrinkage of 17%. Measurements of sexual gratification with the McCoy Female Sexuality Questionnaire (MFSQ) showed an average improvement of 8.5 points on a 36 point scale. Clinical results prove that the fast and easy-to-perform IntimaLase® treatment is an effective, non-invasive, incision-less procedure with no undesired side effects or contraindications.

ProlapLase®
Er:YAG SMOOTH mode Laser Treatment of Pelvic Organ Prolapse
• Photothermal tightening of the tissue and contraction of the vaginal canal
• A safe and non-invasive alternative to traditional methods
• High success rate and patient satisfaction
• Suitable also for higher grade prolapse
What is ProlapLase®?
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common problem, affecting almost 50% of parous women to some degree. Before ProlapLase® there were only two solutions available: supporting pessaries and surgical methods, both of which have been associated with problems and high levels of adverse effects. ProlapLase® is an innovative and unique non-invasive Er:YAG laser alternative for the treatment of POP. It utilizes the gentle, nonablative photothermal effects of Fotona’s SMOOTH mode to tighten the tissue and contract the vaginal canal. Preliminary clinical studies show that it is an efficient, easy-to-perform and safe procedure.
How does ProlapLase® work?
The ProlapLase® treatment is based on precisely controlled laser-induced photothermal effects of Fotona’s 2940 nm Er:YAG laser in mucosa tissue, stimulating collagen remodelling and the synthesis of new collagen fibres. The result of collagen neogenesis and remodelling is shrinkage and tightening of the vaginal canal without removal of any tissue.
The ProlapLase® protocol includes three steps:
Step 1: Circular (360°) irradiation of the whole vaginal canal.
Step 2: Angular irradiation of the prolapsed side of the vaginal wall.
Step 3: Irradiation of the vestibule region and prolapsed vaginal wall.
Usually, patients will require more than one treatment session (up to four).
Promising clinical results
The latest scientific results presented by Dr. Urska Bizjak-Ogrinc and Dr. Sabina Sencar clearly show that Fotona’s novel thermal laser treatment is an effective and safe noninvasive option for the treatment of POP:
• The average POP grade was significantly reduced already after the first session (Fig.1).
• The POP continued to improve with further sessions (Fig. 2).
• Treatment discomfort was very low (mean VAS score 0.4) and patient satisfaction high (median 4 on 1-5 scale).
• There were no adverse events reported.
Unique advantages of ProlapLase® for your patients
With ProlapLase® the overall impact and burden on the patient’s organism is minimal, as opposed to more invasive classical surgical procedures. No special pre-op preparation or post-op precautions are necessary. Patients can immediately return to their normal everyday activities. Additional advantages of ProlapLase® are that the procedure is incision-less and virtually painless, with no cutting, bleeding or sutures.

RenovaLase®
Vaginal atrophy laser treatment
• solution for symptoms of vaginal atrophy • photo-thermal treatment of the vaginal canal
• functional restoration of vaginal mucosa • safe treatment without long-term hormonal therapy
• minimally invasive • no anaesthesia needed • walk-in/walk-out procedure
What is RenovaLase® ?
RenovaLase® is an innovative and unique, non-invasive 2940 nm Er:YAG laser therapy for the symptoms of vaginal atrophy. It is based on non-ablative photothermal treatment of the vaginal canal. Clinical studies show that it is an efficient, easy-to-use, quick and safe procedure, eliminating the need for long-term estrogen administration.
Promising clinical Results
The latest scientific results presented by Dr. Marco Gambacciani1 and Dr. Adrian Gaspar2-4 clearly show a noticeable improvement in the symptoms of vaginal atrophy.
Results show favourable changes in the tropism of the vaginal mucosa, with increases in collagen and vascularisation as well as in the glycogen level and the epithelial thickness.
There was no ablation of the tissue or thermal damage and no adverse events.
The positive effects were long lasting as results were sustained at follow-up 6 months after the treatment. With no need for long-term estrogen treatment, RenovaLase® is also appropriate for patients with estrogen-dependent cancer (such as endometrial cancer, breast cancer, etc.) or with a family background of such cancers, as shown in clinical studies by Dr. Bojanini5 and Dr. Gambacciani2 .
How does RenovaLase® work?
The RenovaLase® treatment is based on laser-induced controlled mild heating of the vaginal tissue, which stimulates angiogenesis, fibroblast activity and new collagen formation, without thermal or ablative damage.
The final result is increased epithelial thickness as well as vascularisation of the lamina propria, along with a reduction of symptoms such as dryness, itching, irritation and dyspareunia (see figures above).
